Couple Counselling (Marriage Guidance)
A romantic relationship is one of the closest we have as humans. Choosing a partner and staying together through life's twists and turns is rarely simple. When we choose to get married and raise a family together, unsurprisingly this only adds to the complexity.
Couple counselling is a form of therapy that looks to improve communication and resolve issues within an intimate relationship. In contrast to counselling for relationship issues, which can be undertaken solely through individual sessions, couples counselling is a term applied to talk therapy for two people within a relationship.
Couple counselling isn't a way of invading your privacy or telling you what to do, It is important to remember that when you go to couple counselling you will not be offered our personal opinion and you will not be told whether or not you should stay together. Our role during counselling is to facilitate change and resolution by helping you both communicate more effectively and reach your own conclusions under the guidance of Mind Minders Therapist.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) treatment
is a cognitive-behavioral approach that emphasizes the psychosocial aspects of treatment. The theory behind the approach is that some people are prone to react in a more intense and out-of-the-ordinary manner toward certain emotional situations, primarily those found in romantic, family and friend relationships. DBT theory suggests that some people’s arousal levels in such situations can increase far more quickly than the average person’s, attain a higher level of emotional stimulation, and take a significant amount of time to return to baseline arousal levels.
People who are sometimes diagnosed with borderline personality disorder experience extreme swings in their emotions, see the world in black-and-white shades, and seem to always be jumping from one crisis to another.
At Mind Minders we specialize in providing DBT therapy to our clients, specially in workshops helping parents with the upbringing or preteen and teen children. (see more in the workshops page)
Child Behavioural Therapy
At Mind Minders during a child behavioural therapy (which is a form of cognitive therapy) we aim to minimize anxiety, help the child with alternative ideas.
The therapy focus on learning that feelings and moods alter behaviour. It helps the child to identify their inner thoughts and replace bad ones with positive productive thoughts. The therapist analyses the child's behaviour and teaches them different ways to respond to situations in a positive way. Also by rewarding positive behaviours and punishing negatives.
Children with behavioural issues need to have some type of therapy that allows them to express themselves without consequences and then slowly build up their level of trust with the counsellor. Once this is done the child can begin to learn the reasons for their behaviour and what the trigger points are and how to deal with those issues once they arise.
Conversational Hypnotherapy (in French or Arabic)
Conversational hypnotherapy is a therapy where both the patient and hypnotherapist are actively working together, to help the patient regain control of their emotions, pain and life.
We work on phobias, stress, depression, unhealed grieving, and traumas.
Mind Minders hypnotherapy technique insures no pain suffered by the client.
In fact, we all unknowingly go under hypnosis in our daily life. When we are absent minded we experience a hypnotic trance, although we are fully awake. This is what hypnosis is all about: to be day dreaming but fully awake at the same time.
Our conversational hypnotherapist is certified from the Belgian Institute of Milton Erickson. Through this technique, we help the patient go into a modified conscious state, between awakening and sleeping, closer to what we know as ‘having one’s head in the clouds’.
Our therapy sessions are generally quite short in number, each session lasts between 45 minutes and an hour.
